‘Heeramandi’ first song turns out to be visibly recycled palette of Amir Khusro’s ‘Sakal Ban’

Bhansali Music has released the new song Sakal Ban' from upcoming Netflix series 'Heeramandi'

Heeramandi’ first song turns out to be adapted from Amir Jhusro’s poem ‘Sakal Ban’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated Netflix series ‘Heeramandi’ first song was unveiled on Saturday.

After years of making the first track, Sakal Ban is the composition of a “traditional” source, while the lyrics are accredited to the 14th-century poet Amir Khusro’s one of the classics.

The visuals of Sakal Ban strike Bhansali’s trademark investing in larger-than-life sets and perfectly choreographed dance sequences.

However, there was nothing new in particular to be mentioned other than the story, we already know that the series is based on the lives of courtesan residing in the red-light district of Lahore’s infamous Heera Mandi during the British Raj.

And, there is a lot of resemblance to Bhansali’s previous offerings, including Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.

Summing up the song, we get to see the leading ladies of the show Manisha Koirala, Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Sehgal, all immersed in dancing on the visibly recycled palette.
