‘The Blacklist’ Finale: Tweeps are emotional as hit investigative series from NBC reached its close
James Spader bids farewell to an intriguing criminal mastermind
‘The Blacklist’ Series Finale has left the fans emotional as well its stars.
After 10 Seasons and 218 episodes, NBC’s international crime thriller came to an end on July 13.
This show started in 2013 and little did the drama fans know that it would capture their hearts for a decade.
The series in its course of 10 years brought numerous stories of murders, secret babies, betrayals, elaborated heists, and not to forget more Russian spies than Foggy Bottom in the 1970s.
There were also tragic deaths during the run of the series, including Elizabeth Keen, Mrs. Kaplan and Meera Malik and Alan Fitch, and Christopher Hargrave (better known as Tom Keen), plus many others.
The most tragic death to recall is fan-favorite character Glen Carter and the actor who played him, Clark Middleton.
The Blacklist every week delivered James Spader’s charm, wit, and haberdashery.

I watched #theblacklist religiously for years. For me, the show ended with the season 8 finale. Tonight’s series finale was a disgrace.
These are the death scenes for the two lead characters. It’s obvious which one should have actually been the show’s final scene. pic.twitter.com/q1hnVotdfP

He did it his way! Not a bullet, not his illness, he stepped forward and knew what was coming…. not go gentle into that good night" and "rage against the dying of the light," (the last thing a dying person gets to choose is how he faces death.) #TheBlacklist pic.twitter.com/6bwVCqXwfY

Red was too smart to be captured. You best believe he was NOT going out by someone’s bullet. Jail? Don’t think so.
A happily ever after was doubtful. This death was in line w/Red’s motto of never being afraid to die. He challenged death right in the eyes. #TheBlacklist pic.twitter.com/4attJFZ8d9— katarina's redemption (@KeenRostova) July 14, 2023
James Spader bids farewell to an intriguing criminal mastermind
James Spader bidding farewell to the series, says the cast and crew relished the chance to take their time saying goodbye.
“I was very, very glad we were able to end it exactly the way we wanted to end it. It was deliberate and we weren’t taken by surprise in terms of when the ending was going to come,” he told The Associated Press. “You’ll see that the ending has conviction and we commit to it.”
“I really felt like this was complete and I loved how it really completed a circle, in a way,” he said, adding “It wasn’t just an unbroken line from point A to point Z, but it was a circle of sorts.”
“I would not be as curious about a show that was either just a drama or a show that was just a comedy,” he says. “I felt that it was sort of nice that this show was very, very intense and brutal at times and then, at other times, very irreverent and sometimes very emotional.”
