“Cats” film adaptation to feature Taylor Swift in major acting role

It been confirmed by media that singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift is about to take first major acting role, alongside Sir Ian McKellen, James Corden and Jennifer Hudson, in upcoming adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Cat”.

 

10 times Grammy winner Tylor Swift, whose “Reputation” album was the biggest seller of 2017 in the United States, made her film acting debut in the 2010 romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day”. Swift is now being eyed as the flirtatious red cat Bombalurina, while McKellen will play the elderly feline leader Old Deuteronomy, says media reports.

 

This musical adaptation is reported of being directed for the big screen by Oscar winning British film maker, Tom Hopper. His best work includes The King’s speech, Les Miserebales and the Danish Girl. He will be teaming up with studio Universal and production company Working Title on this new film, the shooting is set is start in November, with further details to be revealed soon.

Based on a book of poems by T.S. Eliot, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats,” was first staged in London in 1981 and has been produced around the world.
