Ridley Scott’s ‘GLADIATOR 2’ is set to resume filming next week in Malta

Gladiator 2 is set for release on November 22, 2024.

Ridley Scott’s ‘GLADIATOR 2’ is set to resume filming next week in Malta reportedly on December 4.

The much-anticipated sequel to 2000 “Gladiator” will feature an ensemble cast led by Paul Mescal including Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawy, Connie Nielsen, Fred Hechinger, Djimon Hounsou and Peter Mensah.

The shooting of the historical epic was delayed when the actors went on strike in July earlier this year.

During the strike, Ridley Scott spent most of the time editing the already-filmed sequel.

It was reported that  Scott has edited 90 minutes of the film featuring Paul Mescal’s character fighting a pack of baboons!

Gladiator 2 is set for release on November 22, 2024.

The sequel is set years after the events of the original and follows an adult Lucius (Mescal), the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix).

The original star Russel Crowe is not involved in the sequel and the reason is obvious.

Scott’s original “Gladiator,” starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix grossed a whopping $503 million at the box office worldwide in 2000 and also won the Oscar for Best Picture.
