Akshay Kumar’s “Gold” becomes the first ever Bollywood film to release in Saudi Arabia

While the waves of change sweep across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, another development in field of entertainment has taken place. The history has been made as Akshay Kumar’s starrer,sports period drama film “Gold” becomes the first ever Bollywood movie to get released in Saudi Arabia.

The news was also shared by the action hero, who also happens to be at the 7th spot on Forbes list of highest paid actors with $40.5 million earnings, also shared the news of his film being released in KSA.

He wrote, “The story of India’s first Gold medal victory for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Happy to share, #Gold is the first ever Bollywood movie to release in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cinemas from today!”

Film Gold has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and directed by Reema Kagti. The star cast include Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal in key roles. The popular TV actress Mouni Roy is also making her film debut with this film.

It occurred earlier this year, when Saudi Arabia lifted the 35-year-old ban on film releases. The last film to get released in KSA country was back in 1983. The ban was ultimately lifted this year in April when the Hollywood blockbuster, Marvel Studio’s Black Panther was released on cinemas in the KSA.
