DI Khan: 10 policemen martyred in a terrorist attack on police station in Tehsil Daraban
Police said terrorists attacked the police station with heavy weapons at 3 am
At least 10 policemen were martyred and six others injured in an attack on a police station in Tehsil Daraban of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district.
The martyred policemen included six jawans of the Elite Force.
DSP Daraban said that among the martyred personnel, 4 are soldiers of the elite force and 6 belong to the Dera district, the platoon of elite force Swabi is posted at Chaudhwan police station.
Among the injured are an SHO and five more policemen, who were shifted to DHQ Hospital.
According to the Police, the terrorist attacked the police station with heavy weapons at 3 am, on Monday.
The terrorists lobbed hand grenades besides opening fire on the police station, while the policemen also retaliated and the gun battle continued for two hours.
However, the terrorists escaped in the darkness of the night.
The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation with the help of security forces.
According to sources, all routes leading to South Waziristan and Tank have been closed.
Funeral prayers of martyred police personnel will be offered in the police line, according to the police.
On the other hand, Caretaker PM Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police station in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan.
