Edhi Foundation wants to evacuate Pakistani students from Wuhan, seeks permission from govt.

As the Chinese city of Wuhan has been locked down amid the spread of deadly Coronavirus, a number of Pakistani students are stuck in the city, with no permission from the govt, to travel back home.

According to the Edhi Foundation, Pakistani students in China are in contact with them and have requested to evacuate them from the city struck with a lethal virus.

In this regard, Faisal Edhi, managing trustee of the charity foundation has written a letter to foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, seeking for govt. permission to evacuate Pakistani students stranded in Wuhan city of Hubei province, China.

“The Pakistani students are in our contact and we want them to evacuate from China,” Faisal Edhi writes in the letter.

He further says that the coronavirus has been spreading rapidly and because of it, Pakistani students in such conditions are suffering from stress and facing an acute food shortage.

“Most of the Pakistani students are not infected and we can save them”, writes Faisal Edhi.

Seeking permission, Edhi wants the govt. to identify the area where the students will be quarantined until coronavirus became negative.

Upon receiving the permission, Edhi Foundation will arrange for chartered flights to evacuate the students at the earliest.
