Harnai coal mine explosion: Rescue operation underway to extract 8 miners trapped at a depth of 1000 feet

The district administration is currently overseeing the rescue operations.

After the Harnai coal mine explosion a rescue operation is underway to extract 8 miners trapped at a depth of 1000 feet.

As reported, an underground gas explosion at the Jalat Khan Coal Company’s administered coal mine in the Zardalu area of Harnai, Balochistan left 18 miners trapped underneath.

According to rescue sources, eight more people who went to rescue the ten labourers trapped in the mine were also trapped there after which rescue teams were sent to rescue all the people trapped in the mine.

The Chief Mining Inspector said that eight miners trapped in the coal mine were taken out, while the dead bodies of two miners were also recovered.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has taken notice of the incident and has asked for a report while also directing to speed up the rescue operation.

DGPDMA says that two teams have been dispatched to Harnai, and a rescue operation is currently underway to extract eight miners trapped at a depth of 1000 feet.
