Karachi weather turns pleasant after light rain and hail

Karachi weather turns pleasant after a light rain and hail in a few areas on Friday afternoon.

The sudden change in weather caught the Karachiites by surprise as light showers brought cool winds along hailstones.

As reported, Scheme 33, Orangi, Surjani, New Karachi, North Karachi, Model colony, Airport, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Port Qasim areas of the metropolis received light rain under the influence of a westerly wave.

The weather stations predict that the current spell may continue till March 21.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecasted light rain coupled with thunderstorms in the metropolis from Friday to Sunday (March 17-19).

Earlier this week, the MET office predicted a westerly wave is likely to enter the upper parts of Pakistan on March 16 and grip the upper and central parts on March 17 which may persist till March 20.

On an average basis,  the climate remains dry; it never rains in March in Karachi. The climate is very warm in that locality in the month of March.

The high seasonal norm is 33°C for Karachi.

According to the ex-chief meteorologist Touseef Alam, receiving showers this time of the year is not regular but not unexpected too.
