MQM-P turns down reports of talks on govt formation
MQM-P’s leaders reached Lahore to meet the PML-N leadership after securing 17 national assembly seats in the Feb 8 general elections.
Hours after the release of a statement from PML-N, MQM-P turned down reports of talks on government formation.
MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has called for political stability in the country following his meeting with PML-N leadership including party supremo Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking to the media after meeting with the PML-N leadership, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui turned down the reports suggesting that his party has initiated talks with the PML-N for matters on the forming of government.
“We discussed issues revolving around Pakistan’s stability. No discussions have been held on the issue of government formation,” he added.
The MQM-P delegation led by Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui including Dr Farooq Sattar, Kamran Tessori and Mustafa Kamal visited Nawaz Sharif’s residence at Jati Umra in Lahore on the invitation of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif

Earlier in the day, PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb in a statement said that an in-principle agreement was reached between PML-N supremo Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the MQM-P leadership.
“They vowed to work together for the interest of the country and the nation,” Marriyum said.
