Muharram-ul-Haram moon sighted in Pakistan, Ashura to be observed on Aug 30

The Muharram ul Haram crescent has been sighted in Pakistan the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Thursday.

Youm-e-Ashur will be observed on August 30th, Sunday.

The first day of the Islamic month of Muharram, which is also the first day of Hijri year 1442 according to the Islamic calendar, will fall on August 21 (Friday).

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi to sight the moon for the first month of the Islamic year Muharram-ul-Haram.

Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman presided the meeting in Karachi whereas the zonal committees meeting were held in their respective areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has earler pridicted that there was a good chance of moon sighting of Muharram-ul-Haram on August 20
