Pentagon briefly locked down after multiple gunshots at Transit Center
Pentagon briefly locked down after multiple gunshots at Transit Center on Tuesday morning.
The Pentagon complex was locked down following a shooting at the building’s Metro entrance on Tuesday morning. It was not immediately clear how many shots were fired and if anyone was injured or killed.
As being reported a firing incident occurred on a metro bus platform that is part of the Pentagon Transit Center.
This facility is reportedly just steps from the Pentagon building in Virginia, United States.
“At least one person was down, according to two people familiar with the shooting, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to release information publicly. The person’s condition was not known,” AP reported.
Pentagon Force Protection Agency said, “The Pentagon currently is on lockdown due to an incident at the Pentagon Transit Center. We are asking the public to please avoid the area.”
However, the lockdown was lifted after a short while.
The Pentagon has lifted the lock down and has reopened. Corridor 2 and the Metro entrance remains closed. Corridor 3 is open for pedestrian traffic.
