PTI serves a show cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat

Marwat claimed that Barrister Gohar Khan was “removed” as the chairman of the former ruling party over “unsatisfactory” performance.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) served a show-cause notice to its leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday over his remarks against Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

Marwat commented that Barrister Ali Zafar’s nomination for the new party chairman was a consequence of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s alleged shortcomings and the mishandling of post-election affairs by PTI leadership.

The PTI has directed Marwat to submit an apology letter within two days, stating that his remarks had created a tense situation.

The PTI told Marwat that he went against party policy and gave a statement which caused significant distress that could not be tolerated.

“You are required to tender an unconditional apology within two days. If your reply is unsatisfactory or you do not respond, further action will be taken as per party policy and rules,” the letter sent by PTI’s central secretariat said.

Ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) intra-party polls, Senior Vice-President Sher Afzal Khan Marwat remarked that Ali Zafar is not mentally prepared to assume the party’s chairmanship.

“I had congratulated Ali Zafar over his nomination for the PTI chairman’s slot. He [Ali Zafar] was also collecting greetings till yesterday night, but he talked out his busy schedule due to [court] cases today,” Marwat expressed his views while talking to the Geo News program Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath on Friday evening.

To a question, Marwat also defended the party founder Imran Khan’s move to write to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to set conditions for an election audit before approving the new loan to Pakistan.

“The IMF was fixing everything here [in Pakistan] then it should also fix election audit,” he said.
