Saudi Arabia suspends all international flights

Saudi Arabia has suspended all international flights for two weeks as part of measures to avoid the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

The move comes as the kingdom has seen a steep rise in coronavirus cases in the last few weeks.

The citizens and emigrants who are unable to return due to the suspension or who go into quarantine after returning will be granted an “exceptional official holiday,” the SPA report added.

The Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and other relevant agencies will make preparations for the influx of citizens who wish to return, as the relevant procedures will be announced within a week, reports stated.

Earlier on Saturday, Saudi Arabia reported 17 new cases of the deadly coronavirus, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the Kingdom to 103 in the Kingdom.

The country has implemented several preventive measures since the outbreak of the virus, including halting flights to coronavirus-hit countries, suspending tourist visas, and prohibiting all public events.
