Coronavirus Outbreak: Second positive case reported in Karachi
The second coronavirus case has been confirmed in Karachi.
This is the second case to emerge from the metropolis and the third overall from Pakistan.
Sindh Health Department issued a statement at 5 pm Saturday, confirming the second positive case in the metropolis.
“The patient has a recent history of travel to Iran and had acquired the virus there. He has been put into isolation and is under treatment,” the statement said.
All recent contacts of the patient have been quarantined and are being monitored, the statement further added.
Without revealing any personal details or whereabouts of the new patient, the Sindh health department said this new case is unrelated to the previous case reported in Karachi of a 22-year-old male.
Earlier on Friday, the health department reported that the 22-year-old coronavirus patient is recovering and will be sent home after his quarantine ends.
