WWE legend ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson officially announces retirement from wrestling

The eight-time WWE champion ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson has officially announced retirement from wrestling.

The Rock who left WWE 15 years ago to embark on his silver screen career, while promoting his latest movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw on Live with Kelly and Ryan, dropped the huge bombshell.

The Rock said, “I miss wrestling, I love wrestling”, and made the official announcement of retirement.

“Yes, I do…I quietly retired from wrestling because I was lucky enough to have just a really wonderful career and accomplish what I wanted to accomplish, but there’s nothing like a live crowd, a live audience, a live microphone as you both know.”

While being away from the ring he kept returning to the squared-circle on several occasions, most notably for two WrestleMania showdowns with John Cena in 2012 and 2013.

His final ever fight was against Erick Rowan at Wrestle Mania 32, and the Rock took just six seconds to claim the victory. That fight made it the shortest match ever in ‘Mania history.

It is also being speculated that WWE is attempting to get The Rock to appear on the first Fox episode of SmackDown Live on October 4.
