The trial court issues a verdict on the “un-Islamic nikah” of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi today at the Adiala jail on Saturday.

The court in a short verdict sentenced PTI founder and his wife to seven years in prison each and fined Rs500,000 each.

The verdict was pronounced by Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah today, a day after the hearing of the case was conducted inside the jail premises for 14 hours a day earlier.

Senior civil judge Qudrat Ullah announced the decision on the complaint of Bushra Bibi’s former husband Khawar Fareed Maneka in a makeshift court at Adiala Jail.

A local court on Friday reserved its verdict after recording the statements of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
