Youm-e-Ali: Sindh announces holiday for all educational institutes on April 1

Every year, Youm-e-Ali is observed on the 21st of Ramadan to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

Sindh government announced that all educational institutes in the province will remain closed on April 1, Monday, on account of Youm-e-Ali.

According to a notification issued by the government on Sunday, all the public and private educational institutes in Sindh will remain closed on Monday. 

“With the approval of competent authority as per the decision taken in the meeting of the Sub Committee of Steering Committee held on November 13, 2023, the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, hereby declares holiday on the account of Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA) Monday, April 1, 2024,” said the notification. 

Every year, Youm-e-Ali is observed on the 21st of Ramadan to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

Marking the day, large processions are carried out across the country with security put on high alert.

Meanwhile, Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan-ul-Najjar has ordered security measures to be made extraordinary on the occasion of Youm e Ali, Al-Quds Day and the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.

The Interior Minister said that sweeping and clearance should be ensured on the routes of Youm e Ali processions, and the security should be coordinated and made effective on the occasions of Shabina gatherings, sermons etc. in the mosques.

He further said that security measures should be ensured at shopping centers etc. by taking the relevant market associations into confidence.
