Youm-i-Ali processions to be observed in Karachi, Lahore

Youm-i-Ali, the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (R.A) is being observed in Karachi and Lahore on Monday.

According to reports, to ensure the safety on the routes of major processions, extensive traffic and security plans have been devised in metropolis.

Security officials will also provide surveillance to processions going along the way on selected routes.

In Karachi, the main procession of Youm-i-Ali will be taken out from Nishtar Park and will go from New MA Jinnah Road en-route to Peoples Chowrangi, will end at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah at Kharadar.

The mourners will offer Namaz-e-Zohrain near Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum.

The route of the main procession will be completely sealed for passer-by as no entry and exit will be allowed.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, the main procession will be taken out from Mochi Gate to Karbala Gamey Shah outside Bhatti Gate. It will pass through different localities of the historic city.

Tight security is on high alert to maintain law and order on the occasion. The pillion riding has been banned and cellphone services are temporarily unavailable in Lahore.

Additionally, the Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan is on his three-day trip in the city and will be attending an event at a hotel in Lahore today.
