Abdullah Shafique marks his presence with a maiden ODI fifty during the Super-4 clash

Abdullah Shafique scores his maiden ODI 50 against Sri Lanka in the Super-4 clash in Colombo on Thursday.

He was not part of the first Pakistan Playing-11, but replaced Saud Shaeek who had a fever this morning, in a must-win game and played a terrific knock against Sri Lanka.

Shafique stepped up alongside captain Babar Azam, contributing significantly to a 64-run partnership that was pivotal for the Green Team.

Shafique scored his maiden ODI fifty in 65 deliveries, with three boundaries and two sixes in his impressive 52-run innings.

The toss for the match was delayed after rain started in Colombo just minutes before the toss was due.

 

Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the toss against Sri Lanka, in the Super-4 clash which is seen as a virtual semi-final of the Asia Cup 2023.
