Netizens react to see Bengaluru police stop Pakistani fan from cheering for his team
It’s absolutely ridiculous how a fan isn’t allowed to cheer for his own country.
Netizens reacted after a clip went viral on social media showing an Indian policeman who stopped a Pakistani fan from cheering in favour of the Pakistan Team at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
Well if you happen to get a visa to watch the ongoing ICC World Cup in India being played on Indian soil, be mindful that you can not cheer for the Pakistan Team saying Pakistan Zindabad, Period.
The soul Pakistan fan in the stadium wearing a green jersey can be seen arguing with the cop on duty, saying “[We] have come from Pakistan, what should we say if not Pakistan Zindabad,”
The Pakistani fan also questioned the policeman as to why he couldn’t say Pakistan Zindabad as he was attending the match featuring the Green Team.
That’s not the spirit of Cricket at all and a slap on ICC’s face for being pro-BCCI indeed.
Meanwhile, NDTV reported quoting Bengaluru’s City Police Commissioner B Dayanand, that “higher authorities” have instructed to prevent the fans from engaging in provocative acts.
Well, it’s absolutely ridiculous how a fan isn’t allowed to cheer for his own country.
Netizens react:
Might get called anti-national here, but when there isn't problem in chanting "Go Australia, All the best England" kind of slogans here, then why not this?
I understand the geo-political situation situation, but the things other than sport must be kept outside the stadium. If… https://t.co/gE3IJCxLZ0

It's shocking and upsetting to see that people are being stopped from cheering "Pakistan Zindabad" at the game.
This totally goes against what the sport is about!#CWC23 #PAKvsAUS #AUSvsPAK pic.twitter.com/iVnyFlNB09

These petty acts must be stopped. It's a multi-nation tournament i.e. WC and with these actions we are only inviting global shame for our nation – no glory in this. @BCCI must act to stop this nonsense!#PAKvsAUS https://t.co/64ZOzILc1r

How you can stop fans to support their favourite teams @BCCI ?
This behaviour is absolutely pathetic @ICC ?
Is this law same for all team fans ? #CWC23 #PAKvAUS #PAKvsAUS https://t.co/uSI0zhyXVY— Ubaid Awan (@UbaidAwan) October 20, 2023
This is absolutely pathetic.
I'm sure dodos will share some equivalence of this to justify this behavior. https://t.co/H5xxLdmyKj

Sports should unite, not divide. It’s unfortunate to hear about restrictions on chants like ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ during games. Let’s embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, #PAKvAUS #CWC2023 #PakistanZindabad https://t.co/Hdqv7VuANr
