Nahida Khan, bowlers hand Pakistan comfortable win

Pakistan women earned a comfortable win against Bangladesh women the first of two ODIs in Lahore. Chasing 215, Bangladesh fell 29 runs short of the target as Pakistani bowlers chipped away with regular wickets.

Having won the toss, captain Bismah Maroof elected to bat 1st. Openers Sidra Ameen and Nahida Khan were slow but solid, taking the team to 59 in twenty overs. Sidra Ameen fell for 21 but Nahida carried on to anchor the innings eventually falling for 69. She was well supported by Bismah Maroof (39), Umaima Sohail (29) and Aliya Riaz (37), all scoring at over 90 runs per 100 balls. From 209/6, Pakistan slumped to 215 all out. Jahanara Alam was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

In response, despite Nigar Sultana’s 58, Bangladesh were always playing catch up. Pakistan picked up wickets at regular intervals as Sana Mir bagged three wickets while Nashra Sandhu, Diana Baig, and Sadia Iqbal all picked up a brace. Aside from Nigar resistance from Bangladesh came from Fargana Hoque (27) and Captain Rumana Ahmed (28).

Nahida Khan was named the player of the match.
