Tabassum Govil, actress and iconic Doordarshan host, passed away!
As reported, Kiran Bala Sachdev better known by her stage name Tabbassum died at the age of 78 due to cardiac arrest at a hospital in Mumbai on 18th November.
Her last rites were performed on Saturday.
According to her son Hoshang Govil, it was his mother’s wish that no one be told about her death until she her last rites had been performed.
She was the first to host India’s first talk show.
Tabassum, hosted the iconic talk show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan on Doordarshan from 1972 to 1993.
Tabassum made her film debut as a child actor with Nargis (1947). Her later film works were followed by Mera Suhaag (1947), Manjhdhar (1947) and Bari Behen (1949).
She also appeared in Baiju Bawra (1952) in the childhood role of Meena Kumari.
