Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Dr. Abdul Razzaq passes away

Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Dr. Abdul Razzaq Iskander passed away in Karachi on Wednesday aged 86.

He was the chancellor of Jamia Binoria Town, a famous Karachi seminary located near Guru Mandir.

Maulana Iskander’s funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Binoria Town on Wednesday night. He was laid to rest in the seminary’s premises near the grave of its founder, Maulana Yousuf Binori.

As being reported, Maulana Dr. Abdul Razzaq was suffering from breathing problems and was admitted to the Indus Hospital, and was put on the ventilator a week ago.

Renowned Islamic scholar was born in Kakul, Abbottabad, in 1935, and received his early education from Darul Uloom Karachi when its campus was located in Nanak Wara of Lyari.

He obtained further education from Jamia Islamia of Madina in Saudi Arabia and the Al-Azhar University of Egypt.

He was appointed the chancellor of Jamia Binoria after the assassination of Dr. Habibullah Mukhtar in 1997 and remained in the same post till his death.

Dr. Iskander was also the chief of Almi Majlis Tahafuz Khatm-i-Nabuwat and the central president of Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan.

Maulana was the author of 18 books on different subjects and had been associated with teaching, directly and indirectly, hundreds of thousands of students and scholars. 

Condolence messages started to pour in on social media as soon as the sad news of his demise became public.
