JUI-F MPA dies after contracting coronavirus in Karachi

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) MPA and Former Balochistan governor, Syed Fazal Agha died after contracting coronavirus on Wednesday at a private hospital in Karachi.

Agha tested positive for the lethal infection few days ago, he had been initially brought to Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital in Quetta, however he was later moved to Karachi after his condition deteriorated, reports said.

He was elected an MPA from Pishin district of Balochistan.

Agha was also a member the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl. He served as the Balochistan governor during Nawaz Sharif’s last tenure and served as Senate deputy chairman in late 1980s.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal has expressed grief over the demise of the lawmaker.

“Agha was a senior politician who played a key role in the development of the province as its former governor” CM Balochistan said in his statement.

Earlier, PTI MPA in the Punjab Assembly, Shaheen Raza died of COVID-19 infection on Wednesday morning.

Raza was under treatment at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital after she was tested positive for the infectious disease.

She was initially admitted to Gujranwala’s Civil Hospital, but was later moved to Mayo Hospital after her health condition deteriorated.

Raza reportedly contracted the virus while visiting a field hospital.
