Pakistani short film makes it to the 78th Venice Film Festival

Pakistani short film has made it to the 78th Venice Film Festival!
Pakistani short film, Mulaqat, will be screened at the prestigious film fest in September.
The 20-minute short film is written and directed by Seemab Gul and stars Parizae Fatima and Hamza Mushtaq. It was filmed in Karachi over the course of last year.
London-based Pakistani filmmaker Seemab Gul shared the news on her personal Instagram account with a still from the short.
“Sandstorm (Mulaqat) will have its world premiere at the 78th Venice Film Festival in the #orrizzonti short films competition,” she announced.
She went on to give a special shout-out to her team, saying, “A special thanks to lead actors Parizae Fatima and @hamzamushtaqq and all the wonderful cast and crew!”

Cast member Hamza Mushtaq also took to Instagram to share the achievement.
“Thank you so much for this huge opportunity! Making me a part of this huge project and get to work with such an amazing team! JazakAllah! Proud of the dream team and glad to reach the finishing line!,” he captioned his post.

The 78th Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera. It will take place at Venice Lido from 1 – 11 September 2021.
The Festival is officially recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).
