Malala joins the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza
Mia Khalifa had earlier defended Malala Yousafzai on her silence on the issue.
Malala, the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, joined the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Tuesday.
On the fourth day of Hamas’ surprise attack, Israel continued to pound the Gaza Strip Tuesday with the fiercest air strikes in its 75-year conflict with the Palestinians.
As reported, entire districts were raised in Israeli bombardment despite a threat from Hamas to execute a captive for each home hit.
Taking to X-platform, Malala wrote, “I join the call for an immediate ceasefire. As I have processed the tragic news of the past days, I think of the Palestinian and Israeli children caught in the middle.”
Recounting her childhood days, Malala added that she was only 11 years old when she witnessed violence and terrorism.
“We woke up to the sounds of mortar shells and saw our schools and mosques destroyed by bombs. Peace became something we could only dream about,” she said.
“War never spares children — not those kidnapped from their homes in Israel, not those hiding from airstrikes or without food and water in Gaza,” the activist added.
“Today, I am grieving for all the children and people longing for peace and justice in the Holy Land,” Malala wrote.

Israel claims that Hamas gunmen have killed more than 900 of its people and wounded over 2,000 in cities, towns, and kibbutz communities.
On the Gaza side, health officials report at least 765 Palestinian people have been killed and more than 4,000 wounded.
The United Nation’s human rights commissioner said on Tuesday that Israel´s total siege of the Gaza Strip, depriving civilians of goods essential for survival, is banned under international law.

Malala Yousufzai was being criticized on social media for not expressing her stance on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
The recent wave of backlash was triggered by former adult star Mia Khalifa’s statement, who expressed her sympathies for Palestine.
In her statement, Mia Khalifa referred to Palestine as the oldest state and mentioned that people have witnessed the ongoing genocide happening to them for years.

To which Mia had responded:
“I appreciate your sentiment, but I don’t agree with this rhetoric. We need to be more empathetic to people’s traumas and ability to absorb and digest things unfolding in real-time. Freezing is a trauma response, feeling overwhelmed is common, and we need to give people time to speak on their own time. Malala is a trailblazer for human rights, she’s an inspiration and a guiding light for many.”

Following her statement, netizens started targeting Malala, questioning why she had not said a single word about the brutality of Israel.
