Pervez Khattak steps down from PTI’s positions

In a surprising move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Pervez Khattak stepped down from all party positions late Thursday night.
Pervez Khattak addressing a press conference in Islamabad announced that he is stepping down as the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter president
The PTI stalwart said it was difficult for him to continue serving as the party’s KP chapter president amid the prevailing political crisis.
Khattak added that he would announce the future course of action after consulting his friends and party colleagues.
The PTI leader further added that he had taken the decision to leave the party post after thorough consideration.
The former defense minister added that he had already condemned the attack on military installations on May 9.
PTI chairman Imran Khan reacting to the development in a tweet shared, “Two of our senior members from the negotiations committee I had formed, Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser, were called for a meeting by the intelligence agencies. They have now been illegally detained in a safe house and are being forced to quit PTI for their release. In the law of the jungle, might is right and the weak have no protection.”
