Keamari SSP Fida Hussain Janwari said that the victims were there to check the signals in the area.

In a sad turn of events, two telecom workers were lynched by a mob on suspicion in Karachi on Friday.

As reported, two telecom workers who were thought to be ‘kidnappers’ by people were mercilessly lynched by the angry mob in Karachi’s Machar Colony area.

The police arrived at the scene in Maripur, Machhar Colony where the incident happened, and shifted the bodies of the killed employees of a telecommunication company to Civil Hospital Karachi, while the investigation is currently underway.

According to SSP Kamyari Fida Hussain Janwari, the deceased were workers of a telecom company who came to check the mobile phone signals in the area.

The SSP informed that it was a backward area where a rumor was doing rounds that children were being abducted here.

“When the poor telecom workers reached the place, people thinking them as kidnappers pounced on them,” he added.

The SSP said that police were looking into the matter from different angles and promised to arrest all the accused involved in the lynching.

As reported, the residents of Maripur Machhar Colony got hold of two people taking them as kidnappers near Elahi Mosque.

Instead of handing them over to the police, the residents of the area took the law into their own hands and started beating the men.

Both the beaten men succumbed to their injuries.

Citizens alleged that both the persons were kidnappers whom they lynched.
