Babar Azam refuses to sport betting firm’s logo on jersey during LPL 2023

The league is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka from July 30 to August 21.

Babar Azam is reported to have refused to sport the betting firm’s logo on his jersey during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023.

A number of strikers have signed an agreement with a betting company, but the Pakistan star, who has recently completed the Hajj pilgrimage, refused to wear the logo of the firm as betting is prohibited in Islam.

As per the news source, the said condition had also been made part of the agreement, and the franchise had also honored the decision of Babar Azam.

The 2023 Lanka Premier League will be the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka.

The tournament is set to kick start on July 30 with the final to be played on August 21, in two venues – R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo) and Galle Stadium (Kandy).

International cricket stars including Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, and David Miller as well as popular Sri Lankan stars Thisara Perera and Wanidu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, and skipper Dasun Shanaka among others will be seen in action in LPL.
