Bangladesh and Kazakhstan turn down PHF’s invitation for 4 nation hockey tournament

Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) faced a major setback as Bangladesh and Kazakhstan turned down the invitation for 4 nation hockey tournament to be played in Lahore. The tournament was schedule from 26th to 30th September.

International Hockey Federation was working with Pakistan Hockey Federation to encourage teams to visit Pakistan and help revive international Hockey. It remains to be seen if other teams will replace Bangladesh and Kazakhstan in time for the tournament. Having a small tournament on home soil would be a major step for PHF. The government of Pakistan and other sports bodies have been making efforts to bring sports back in the country after almost a decade of international isolation.

Pakistan Hockey has been on the decline for many years. Recently, they finished 4th in the Asian Games giving away the opportunity to qualify directly to the Olympics.
