Emerging Cup Semi-Final: Amad Butt’s heroics help Pakistan overcome India
Pakistan Emerging Team defeated India Emerging Team by 3 runs to make it the final of the Emerging Cup. In the 50th over, the Indian team needed 8 runs with 3 wickets in hand, but could only score 4 of Amad Butt’s over.
Batting 1st Pakistani team were off to a solid start thanks to Omair Yousuf’s 66 and Haider Ali’s 43. Rohail Nazir once again chipped in with 35. But with the team in some trouble at 168/4, Saif Badar played a strong hand of 47 and was given support by Imran Rafiq and Khushdil Shah. Pakistani team finished with 267/7. For the Indian team, Shivam Mavi, Hrithik Shokeen and Shivam Mavi picked up a brace each.
Emerging Cup: Haider Ali’s century helps Pakistan trounce Oman
With the bat, Indian team were off to a blistering start, with opener Sharath scoring 47 of 43. Saif Badar and Mohammad Hasnain picked up a wicket each to bring the green shirts back in the game. However, Sanvir Singh and Armaan Jaffer took the score to 179 in 30, to stabilise their team’s position.
Hasnain again opened the game picking up Armaan, while Saif Badar doubled with up another wicket and a runout. Indian team lost quick wickets and were 7 wickets down at the start of the 50th over, needing eight runs. With a frontline batsman Chinmay Sutar still in, they were favourites. However, all-rounder Amad Butt gave only four runs in the over and picked up a wicket.
This is team Pakistan’s 4th consecutive win of the tournament and they would be hoping to bring the Cup home.
