Japan stun Germany with 2-1 win in yet another FIFA World Cup 2022 classic

This is for the first time that Japan have beaten Germany in international football match!

Japan stun Germany by 2-1 in a yest another FIFA World Cup 2022 classic on Wednesday.

This is for the first time that Japan have beaten Germany in international football match!

Hansi Flick’s side faced underdogs Japan in Group E as both teams begin their Qatar World Cup campaigns, at the the Khalifa International Stadium.

Germany had taken lead on the 33rd minute penalty from Ilkay Guendogan after Japan goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda had fouled wing back David Raum.

However, and Japan kept making raids into the German half  and culminated an equaliser in 75 mins into the match on Doan’s goal and it was a brilliant finish from Asano eight minutes later resulting in the match winner goal.

The defeat was the third in a row in the opening match of a major championship for Germany.

Germany previously lost to Mexico at the 2018 World Cup, when they bowed out in the first round as champions, and then to France at Euro 2020.

It was a day a ago when in a major football upset, Saudi Arabia beat 2-times world cup winner Argentina by 2-1.
