Jofra Archer Targeted with Racist Insults in New Zealand
English pacer Jofra Archer has revealed that he had to endure racist insults during his time on the crease in the 1st test match against New Zealand. The pacer came out to bat in the 80th overs in England’s second innings.
Archer revealed the incident a tweet.
A bit disturbing hearing racial insults today whilst battling to help save my team , the crowd was been amazing this week except for that one guy , @TheBarmyArmy was good as usual also

New Zealand Cricket Board’s have not yet offered a formal response (the tweet came around half an hour ago). However, the ICC policy about racist abuse entails specific punishment for the individual(s) involved.
“It requires ICC Members to impose punishments on spectators found guilty of racial abuse, which may include ejection from the venue or a ban of a specified period from attending venues within the Member’s jurisdiction to watch cricket, and to deliver preventative measures at international matches.”
However, unlike football, there isn’t necessarily a clear procedure how to deal with racist abuse of players during the game.
It remains to be seen how the NZC board along with the law enforcement authorities deal with the problem and if they would be able to take action against the individual.
