Morgan Freeman is celebrating 26 years of Shawshank Redemption this October
Morgan Freeman is celebrating the 26 years of his iconic film Shawshank Redemption.
Veteran Hollywood actor took to social media to a few photos from the film and thanked the fans, who made Shawshank Redemption, one of the most loved films of all time.
Shawshank Redemption is the highest-rated IMDb film of all time and was originally released on September 23, 1994, in the United States.
Morgan Freeman played the character of Red in the film which is now termed to be one of the best cult classic of Hollywood films.
Morgan Freeman in a tweet shared, “It has been 26 years since #ShawshankRedemption came out in theaters and I’m still thankful to everyone who made our box office flop one of the most beloved movies of all time.”

The story of the fikm revolved around two prisoners, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a man wrongly convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover, and Red (Morgan Freeman), who is serving a life sentence and how they forged a lifelong friendship.
Film was not recieved well at the box office, but received seven Oscars nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Freeman. However, the film did not win in a single category.
