UN recognises PIA crew member for showcasing gender sensitivity

UN recognises a PIA crew member for showcasing gender sensitivity almost a week after the video clip featuring him holding a crying baby on flight went viral.

The official PIA Twitter account shared the latest update by sharing a snippet of the ceremony.

The caption of the video shared on PIA’s official Twitter handle said: Mr. Touheed Daudpota, the crew of #PIA, whose photos of soothing a baby went viral, was declared by @unwomen_pak champion for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect & care to women pax, upholding long traditions of ‘#GreatPeopletoFlyWith’.

PIA steward was declared a hero after images of him went viral on social media showing him helping to soothe a crying baby on a flight from Karachi to Islamabad.

 

PIA crew member Touheed Daudpota has been declared the ‘He for She’ Champion by UN Women Pakistan — a branch of the United Nations that works for gender equality and women’s empowerment. 

UN Women Pakistan has honoured him for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect, and care to a woman passenger.

It was a week ago when celebrity singer and host Fakhr-e-Alam along with many others had shared the photo from that particular flight on twitter.

“A friend onboard @Official_PIA ISD to KHI early morning flight yesterday shared this. A baby was crying nonstop, the mother was exhausted & stressed, she couldn’t comfort the child. So the head purser Mr.Tauheed helped the child sleep. Now that truly is GREAT people to fly with,” Fakhr-e-Alam wrote.
