Sindh govt. suspends Civil hospital doctor over Dr Furqan’s death

Sindh government has suspended a Civil hospital doctor over Dr. Furqan’s death after the inquiry.

Dr. Furqan who recently retired from the Karachi Institute of Heart Disease as chief medical officer died after contracting coronavirus on Sunday, 4th May.

The inquiry report had recommended initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Dr. Jagdesh for “his misjudgment”.

The services of Civil Hospital’s Dr. Jagdesh Kumar were suspended after investigating the death of Dr. Furqan.

A notification issued by the provincial health department said, “The services of Dr. Jagdesh Kumar are hereby placed under suspension”.

 As an inquiry held into the death of Dr. Furqan from coronavirus had concluded in its report that “misjudgment” on part of a medical officer at Civil Hospital was the cause of his death.

The government of Sindh on Monday had formed a committee to probe into the causes which led to the unfortunate death of Karachi’s retired consultant, Dr. Furqan.
