US President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday
Washington has already sent two aircraft carrier strike groups to the eastern Mediterranean "to deter hostile actions against Israel."
US President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday, OCT 18, Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Tuesday.
The development comes as the Israeli siege of Gaza continues, the area is on the edge of catastrophe, deepening humanitarian crisis!
The president will reaffirm United States solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security,” Blinken said after marathon overnight talks in Tel Aviv with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Secretary of State added that Biden’s visit would be a statement of “solidarity with Israel” and an “ironclad commitment to its security”.
The United States and Israel have agreed to work out ways to let international assistance come into the blockaded Gaza Strip, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said early Tuesday.
“At our request, the United States and Israel have agreed to develop a plan that will enable humanitarian aid from donor nations and multilateral organizations to reach civilians in Gaza,” Blinken said after nearly eight hours of overnight talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, Washington has already sent two aircraft carrier strike groups to the eastern Mediterranean “to deter hostile actions against Israel.”
Israel has blocked supplies of food, water, fuel, and electricity to Gaza since the deadly Hamas attacks on 7 October
But the Israeli military denies that there is a humanitarian crisis, insisting there are supplies of water and electricity.
