Tech giant Google turns 25

Google remains most people's default way to search the web.

Tech giant Google has turned 25!

Twenty-five years ago, Google was officially launched on this date in September 1998 by Stanford University Larry Page and Sergey Brin to market Google Search.

Google Doodle celebrates its 25th birthday with a special doodle showing Google’s logo evolution over the years.

However, the tech giant’s dominance is being threatened like never before by AI like ChatGPT and the changing habits of younger people, who are more likely to turn to TikTok for a restaurant or book recommendation.

But after 25 years, Google remains most people’s default way to search the web.

In a blog post, Google thanked the public for the ’25 years of curiosity’ that has fueled the company’s astonishing success.

‘We love dreaming up new ways that technology can be helpful to you every day, and are endlessly inspired by what you’ve used it to achieve,’ it says.

“We’re also humbled by the opportunities ahead and the potential for AI to help us continue to deliver on our mission and improve the lives of even more people around the world,” it added.

‘From all of us at Google, thanks for an amazing 25 years. Here’s to many more years of curiosity.’
