Bollywood’s veteran actress Sulochana Tai passed away aged 94.
Sulochana Latkar known as Sulochana Tai had been a versatile actress in Hindi and Marathi cinema. She is known best for playing the role of a mother in Hindi cinema for over four decades.
Whether it was the feisty Jijabai or the vulnerable mother of Amitabh Bachchan in Majboor, she simply dissolved into the character.
As reported, she had been suffering from respiratory illness for the last few months. Her condition had deteriorated recently after which she was admitted to Sushrusha Hospital in Dadar where she took her last breath.
The veteran actress has over 250 films in Hindi and Marathi cinema to her credit.
She started acting in her teens sometime in the mid-1940s and remained active till the mid-1990s.
Some of her notable Hindi films include Sujata (1959), Naya Kadam (1958), Duniya Na Mane (1959), Bharat Milap (1965), Main Sundar Hoon (1971), Dharmatma (1975), Faraar (1975), Asha (1980), Yaarana (1981), etc.
In the latter stage of her career, she was known for playing Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in a number of films.
