Former Spanish football player Jose Ignacio Peleterio has converted to Islam!

Peleterio known as Jota, is reported to have converted to Islam after the Muslim family of a close friend inspired him, on Friday.

The confirmation of the Spanish player’s conversion to Islam is supported by a video of Jota and his friend Faisal Buresli.

After pronouncing the profession of faith, Jota in an interview with Al Qabas said: “I am so happy, so powerful. I am in the best moments of my life. I love his family [Buresli’s family] so much.”

“I want to pass on to my family and future generations the customs and traditions I saw at my friend Buresli’s house. They have changed my life,” Jota added.

According to Buresli, Jota decided to visit Kuwait in 2023 to familiarize himself with Kuwaiti society.

“Then, two months ago, he spoke with me and informed me of his desire to convert. I did not expect that from him, so I was astonished,” Buresli added.

Jota started his career with Celta de Vigo’s academy in 2010, before moving on loan to Real Madrid’s academy in 2012-2013, and he then moved to SD Eibar in the 2013-2014 season.

While being in Spain, Peleterio played for Real Madrid Castilla, Celta Vigo, Eibar, and Alaves,

In England, He represented Brentford, Birmingham City, and Aston Villa.

Peleterio retired from football in 2021.
