11 new coronavirus cases emerge in Karachi, tally hits 249 in Sindh

The health department of Sindh has confirmed on Friday 11 new COVID-19 cases in Karachi that took the Sindh tally to 249.

Sindh has reported one death from the contagious virus, while three patients have recovered from it.

The latest tally of coronavirus cases across Pakistan hits 481. Below is a breakdown of these cases:

Sindh: 249
Punjab: 96
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 23
Balochistan: 81
Gilgit-Baltistan: 21
Islamabad: 10
Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 1

Earlier today, Sindh health minister Dr. Azra Pechuho confirmed the death of COVID-19 patients in the province.

The patient from Sindh who passed away today was the first death from the local transmission of the virus.

The 77-year-old patient was a resident of Karachi. The person was a cancer survivor and also had diabetes and hypertension when he got the infection.

The minister said the person did not have any travel or contact history.

This is the first death reported in Sindh– the most affected by the virus in the country.
