Disney on Tuesday announces ‘The Lion King’ sequel in works with director Barry Jenkins.
As being reported, the sequel will be a continuation of the studio’s 2019 live-action remake, rather than the 1994 cartoon.
Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the screenplay for the 2019 film, is returning to pen the sequel as well.
Disney hasn’t announced a release date for the sequel yet and also there is no intimidation of the production date.
As per media source, the new film will partly focus on the early years of Mufasa, the regal father of Simba whose death forms the emotional heart of the first film and its remake.
Lion King’s recent reboot directed by Jon Favreau bagged mixed reviews but huge box office receipts; it made over $1.5 billion at the global box office.
