3 killed, scores injured in a blast near Lohari Gate in Lahore

At least 3 people were killed and at 20 were injured in a blast near Lohari Gate in Lahore on Thursday.

According to the initial reports, a time-device blast occurred in the Pan Mandi area in the New Anarkali bazaar of the walled city.

According to the police, the blast caused a 1.5 feet-deep crater in the ground.

The huge blast shattered the glasses of windowpanes of nearby buildings.

The casualties and the number of the injured were confirmed by Lahore police spokesperson Rana Arif.

He also said that the blast occurred due to an improvised explosive device (IED) that was attached to a motorcycle.

The rescue teams reached the spot of the incident and the injured people were shifted to Mayo Hospital.

The area has been cordoned off. While the investigation is underway and police officials are gathering evidence from the scene of the crime.

Forensic sources have said that teams are working to determine the nature of the explosives used in the blast.

Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the blast.

CM Punjab has sought a report from Inspector General (IG) Punjab.

He also directed officials to provide the injured with the best possible medical facilities.
