A chemical plant exploded in a huge fireball near Shepherd, San Jacinto County, Texas, along Farm to Market 1127, sending a giant cloud of black smoke into the sky.
It is unclear what caused the blast with no immediate reports of casualties.
As reported, evacuations are in progress along FM 1127 in Shepherd.
As reported, the explosion occurred at Sound Resource Solutions, a local recycling plant in Shepard, Texas. According to the company’s website. The plant focuses on ‘blending, repackaging, distribution, and logistics’ in a sustainable way.

A shelter-in-place has also been issued to residents within a five-mile radius of Wednesday’s explosion in Shepherd, Texas.

Polk County Emergency Management recommended that residents near US Highway 59 from Goodrich to Leggett shelter in place.
The residents have been advised to turn their HVAC systems off in businesses and homes immediately.
