Two dead in attack in front of US consulate in Jeddah: Saudi officials.
A person driving a car near the US consulate building in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying a firearm engaged in a shooting incident with officers which resulted in his death.
A security guard and a gunman were both killed in an exchange of gunfire in front of the US consulate in Jeddah on Wednesday, Saudi police said.
According to the News Agency, the armed man got out of the car outside the consulate and opened fire on the security officers. In response to the firing by the assailant, the security personnel of the consulate retaliated in which the armed assailant was killed.
According to the news agency, a Nepali security officer posted at the American consulate was injured in the shooting incident and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said that investigations are underway find out the reasons behind the incident.
