Messi has been named TIME’s ‘Athlete of the Year 2023’!

Lionel Messi, who’s fresh off winning his record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or award as the best male soccer player was crowned the coveted title of TIME’s Athlete of the Year 2023 on Tuesday, surpassing renowned athletes Erling Haaland and Novak Djokovic.

The 36-year-old  Argentine football star is enjoying a well-deserved break after storming the United States following his electrifying arrival at Major League Soccer club Inter Miami in July.

TIME magazine recognising Messi’s exceptional year 2023, celebrates his contributions both on and off the field, making him the Athlete of the Year.
