Pakistan pace attack rips through Bangladesh batting line-up, restricting it to 193 runs

Pakistan’s pace attack ripped through the Bangladesh batting line-up, restricting their team to 193 runs in the Asia Cup 2023 Super-4 match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.

Right-armed pacer Haris Rauf led from the front as he took four wickets while Naseem Shah dismissed three wickets to devastate the Bangladesh batting.

Bangladesh decided to bat first against Pakistan after winning the toss.

Bengal Tigers’ innings did not start well and on the very first ball of the second over of the match, Naseem Shah guided opener Mehdi Hasan without scoring a run.

Mehdi Hasan scored a century in the previous match.

After the fall of the first wicket at zero score, Litton Das came to support Mohammad Naeem and both of them played fast and scored 31 runs in the next 21 balls.

Litton Das at the individual score of 16 runs was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The score reached 44 when captain Babar Azam decided to hand the ball to Haris Rauf, who lived up to the captain’s confidence and ended Mohammad Naeem’s innings who scored 20 runs in his first over, and dismissed Tawheed Hardui in the next over, who scored 2 runs.

With these two wickets, Haris Rauf has become the third bowler to take 50 wickets in the fewest matches for Pakistan.

After losing four wickets for 47 runs, the Bangladesh team was in trouble and at this stage, Bangladesh’s most experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim helped to push the score forward and put up a 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

While Shakib also completed his fifty.

This dangerous partnership was ended when  Faheem Ashraf dismissed Shakib Al Hasan after scoring 53 runs.

Meanwhile, Mushfiq continued his excellent performance from the other end and completed his fifty.

Mushfiq and Shamim Hussain batted hard to take the score to 174 but Iftikhar Ahmed ended the 16-run innings of the left-handed batsman Shamim Hussain.

Babar Azam once again brought in Haris Rauf into action, who did not disappoint the captain and removed Mushfiqur who scored 64 runs on the wicket as well as Tasin Ahmad on the next ball.

Naseem Shah showed Afif Hussain the way back to the pavilion.

In the same over, Naseem bowled another victim, Shariful Islam, and wrapped up the Bangladesh team’s innings.

The entire Bangladesh team was bowled out for 193 runs in 38.4 overs.
