Uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s participation in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 ends

The ICC has confirmed that the Indian government has approved visas for the Pakistan squad

Uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s participation in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 ended on Monday evening.

India finally issued visas to the Pakistan team, the confirmation has been made by the governing International Cricket Council (ICC).

“Visas have been issued to the Pakistan team,” an ICC spokesperson told Reuters without elaborating further.

ICC’s confirmation came after Pakistan’s complaints of a delay in the process of visa issuance.

Later PCB spokesperson Umar Farooq also confirmed to Reuters that PCH has been asked to collect their passports from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

Amid the delay in the issuance of visas for the much-anticipated cricket event, the Pakistan Cricket Board canceled the team bonding session in Dubai as it awaits an Indian visa 10 days before the tournament.

On Monday, less than 48 hours before the Pakistan team’s scheduled departure, PCB in a letter written to the ICC complained and said that such inequitable treatment to Pakistan – the only team participating in the World Cup without visas at the moment – will not be tolerated.

Pakistan Team along with the managers is due to fly out to Dubai in the early hours of Wednesday (September 27), and after transit, it will board the flight for Hyderabad on Wednesday evening.
Pakistan is scheduled to play its first warm-up game against New Zealand on Friday in Hyderabad.
