Cross-cultural comedy drama ‘The Queen of My Dreams’ to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

The production of the film involved a 30-day shoot in Karachi in 2022.

Cross-cultural comedy drama ‘The Queen of My Dreams’ is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival!

The film co-produced jointly by Pakistan and Canada will debut at the renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8, 2023.

With the script and directions by Fawzia Mirza, the cast of the includes film Amrit Kaur of HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, Nimra Bucha, from Ms. Marvel, and Hamza Haq from CTV’s Transplant.

Other actors, including Gul e Rana, Ali A. Kazmi, Meher Jaffri, Bakhtawar Mazhar, and Adnan Jaffar will also feature in the film.

The production of the film involved a 30-day shoot in Karachi in 2022, followed by a 10-day shoot spell in Nova Scotia, Canada.

As per the synopsis, the story of the film is set in the backdrop of a shared obsession with Bollywood fantasy, Mariam, a Pakistani Muslim woman, and her Canadian-born daughter Azra come of age in two different eras.

The film is a unique cross-border collaboration with Pakistan-based producers Kamil Chima (Laal Kabootar, Eid Mubarak) and Carol Noronha (In Flames, 1978, Moor) working in partnership with Canadian producers Jason Levangie, Marc Tetreault, and Andria Wilson Mirza.
